Fall in love with historical romance at its finest… meet The Earl’s Runaway Governess by Catherine Tinley.
The plot:
Marianne Grant’s new identity as a governess is meant to keep her safe. But then she meets her new employer – Ash, Earl of Kingswood – and immediately knows his handsome good looks are a danger of their own.
Brusque at their first meeting, Ash quickly shows his compassionate side. Yet Marianne doesn’t dare reveal the truth! Unless Ash really could be the safe haven she’s been looking for…
It is so empowering and real
I rarely read historical romance, but I’m so glad I read this. It had the allure of romance with a forbidden love vibe, mixed with the historical aspects of women and their position in the 1800s.
Initially, I was worried about the length of the read, but it’s a ‘pocket-sized’ book, and the pages just keep turning.
The Earl’s Runaway Governess really took me on an amazing journey, and I just completely lost track of time; I couldn’t get enough of the two main characters, and I was eagerly turning pages to find out what was going to happen to them.
It is so wonderfully written, delving into troublesome topics whilst being, from what we know, truthful of the era. Tinley’s writing is so elegant, you’ll have to say, “just one more chapter” (or for me, “I’ll just read the rest right now).
Chapters were often split between Ash and Marianne, which came across incredibly well. The two personalities shone through, and you could really tell their different opinions, and why they might think such things. It was heartening to see the affect Marianne had on Ash and how this developed, whilst the vicious back-story is still ongoing.
It all ended perfectly, in my eyes – not too fast and with a dash of karma.
I found myself crying at the end and my heart felt so full; it is so empowering and real.
A truly beautiful tale, and I’m now on the hunt for more historical romances to fall in love with.
