Just Watch Me, Jeff Lindsay: Book Review

Written by Nicole

From the author who gave us Dexter, get ready for an incredible crime fiction which you will not want to put down… meet Just Watch Me by Jeff Lindsay.

The plot:

Riley Wolfe is a master thief, expert at disguise, and not adverse to violence when it’s needed. It’s no accident though, that Riley targets the wealthiest 0.1% and is willing to kill them when they’re in his way: he despises the degenerate and immoral rich and loves stealing their undeserved and unearned valuables.

Riley aims for an extraordinary target in a heist that will make history. Riley will try to steal the Crown Jewels of Iran. Yes, these jewels are worth billions, but the true attraction for grabbing them comes down to one simple fact: it can’t be done.

Stealing these jewels is absolutely impossible. With a relentless copy barely a step behind him and only a master art forger by his side, Riley Wolf goes for the prize that will either make him a legend, or more likely, leave him dead.

Highly addictive and thrilling

The protagonist, in what I can only hope to be a new very long series, is fantastic. He’s a bit of a psychopath, but witty, and I can’t wait to see him develop, but this does make you question – what’s next for Riley?

Lindsay is so clever with what information he gives away and when. It’s manipulative, in the sense that you’re told something when it doesn’t seem important, and then it ends up being very important and you’re wondering how you ended up here.

I seriously enjoyed the writing style – you learn about Riley through the eyes of someone else, so when we revert back to Riley, we’re focused on the here and now, much like our protagonist. It was as if you had a little Riley voice inside your head, and Lindsay transports you to the locations.

It’s very American-dramatic, if you know what I mean. Just Watch Me would make a crackin’ film, as it has a superb amount of action to keep you gripped. Riley’s the next bad guy that you’ll love.

Highly addictive and thrilling. Edge of your seat stuff – not to be missed.

At the time of writing, this book hasn’t even been published yet, but I’m already counting down until the next book is released. A definite read for any crime-lover.
