Let Me Tell You a Story, Katie Miller

Written by Nicole

I closed Let Me Tell You a Story and probably shouted ‘maaaaaaaaate’ about 10 times: I then had to stop myself from emailing Katie Miller asking her if we could be best friends.

Ladies (this is definitely not one for the men), we’ve all been there.

Horrible dates, the long-terms not being long-terms, the embarrassing, cliché stories; but for most, we just give our friends the gossip, but for Miller, she’s put everything (and I mean, everything) into a book for us to laugh at, at her expense of course.

The plot:

Let Me Tell You a Story is, quite frankly, Katie Miller telling us her story about her dating life with some professional(ish) tips chucked in along the way. Each chapter is split into who the next funny story is going to be based around. Some include: the Welsh, the Clone, the DJ and the Couple.

In Let Me Tell You a Story, Katie Miller drinks a lot of wine and eats a lot of brunch, appears to have an amazing wardrobe we’d all envy and enjoys gossiping, so we can at least relate to her about 75% here.

This is definitely a book you would sit talking about over a glass of wine and pizza night with your squad. You’ll each have your favourite (and relatable) part and laugh until your sides hurt. Trust. Me.

This is a book for those aged 20-35 and definitely not one if you’ve been in a really long relationship. You’ll probably appreciate the humour more if you’ve ever used Tinder or the alike and agree with the statement: “you don’t fuck with a girl’s food”. AMEN SISTA.

Miller’s writing style is amazing – I honestly felt like she was in the room just talking to me as if we were already best pals (I haven’t sent the email just yet).

Miller has really thought about what she wanted to write and has hit the nail on the head.

The cover’s a bit provocative, so I probably wont be reading this on the tube again (I got some strange looks, was heavily judged by many). Nonetheless, a good before-bed read that you can pick up and put down at any time.

This is self-published and there are a few spelling/grammar mistakes, but when you get over that, it’s wonderful. Short and sweet. Miller has really thought about what she wanted to write and has hit the nail on the head. Nailed IT.

Bookmark That. And then send this to your friends so they can Bookmark That too. And then we can all petition together for Let Me Tell You a Story, Part 2.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book, nor the content of my review. All opinions are my own.
