Lies Between Us by Ronnie Turner – get ready for your skin to crawl.
The plot:
Will they ever learn the truth?
Three people, leading very different lives, are about to be brought together – with devastating consequences…
John has a perfect life, until the day his daughter goes missing. Maisie cares for her patients but hides her own traumatic past. Miller should be an innocent child but is obsessed with something he can’t have.
They all have something in common, though none of them know it – and the truth won’t stay hidden for long.
I just couldn’t read it quick enough
There were lots of moments in Lies Between Us which really made my skin crawl.
One minute I’m being creeped out, and the next minute I want to put myself into these fictional character’s lives and give them a cuddle.
Turner’s way of writing and imagination really makes Lies Between Us a delight. We jumped back and forth in time and between different characters and it is written beautifully.
The beginning was a little confusing, as there was just so much going on and each chapter focuses on one of the three main characters, so getting their tone of voice was difficult at times – but then it all started fitting together and Lies Between Us made total sense. By about mid-way through I was like “OH WHATS NEXT THEN?” and I just couldn’t read it quick enough.
I predicted the main aspect of the book, but as you know, I’m quite the detective. Even so, Turner kept me guessing right up until the end. I was still a bit confused (which, by the way it was written, I can assume is what Turner wanted), but it ended in such a fantastic way, I wouldn’t change a single aspect.
A real treat for thriller fans. If you like Clare Mackintosh and C L Taylor, try this!
